Ian started playing drums at the age of 5, prompted by the Mickey Mouse drum set he received for Chanukah. Self taught, Ian continued to hone his skills throughout his school years as well as playing in a local, but nationally-touring, fyfe and drum corps. Performing in a number of bands in the Western NY music scene since 1987, Ian has had the pleasure of working with some of the area’s finest musicians and has had brief stints touring both nationally and internationally. Since 2006, Ian’s primary music focus has been playing drums for the Rochester-based duo, JUMBOshrimp. Having previously learned the art of playing djembe with Bush Mango African Drum and Dance, Ian’s interest in hand percussion grew and has since performed as percussionist with The Adam Ezra Group, Junkyardfieldtrip, The Zac Brown Tribute Band and his most recent endeavor, Fairport Canal Authority.
